Information on Smoking
By Jamie
Problem: Are filters effective in keeping the harmful cigarette smoke out of a smokers lungs? Too many people smoke around children who don't smoke and the smoke goes in their lungs. And that's called "second hand smoke" and the person smoking is ruining their lungs and life as well as their children that are taking in this cigarette smoke. I think that that is very ignorant to smoke around children or people who don't smoke. But it's ignorant to smoke period.
Hypothesis: I think that the smoke that's going in the bottle is going to stay in the bottle and go black inside of the bottle. I think that when I put the smoke in the jug the smoke will burn out and the smoke will not be in the jug it will evaporate. But I'm guessing that if you put the smoke in the bottle one it will keep burning and the smoke will stay in because there's not a lot of room in the bottle so the smoke will stay in because the smoke is not moving around as much because there's less space in the bottle than in the milk jug.
Materials: 1 milk jug,1 bottle
2 cigarettes
Two cigarettes rolled (both Player's tobacco)
1 smoker
smoke from smokers lungs
Method: step 1:I got a bottle & a milk jug and I washed them out with dish detergent.
step 2:I took a knife and I put a hole at the top of the milk jug& bottle the hole was as big as a cigarette filter. I put these holes at the top on the lids.
step 3:I took the bottle and put it on a flat surface like the kitchen table or floor.
step 4:I took a rolled cigarette that my mother had given me and I put the cigarette in the top of the bottle where the hole was located. The cigarette was held in the hole at the top of the bottle for about 2-3 minutes then when I took it out of the top of the bottle and I put the cigarette out then I took the bottle and I took the top and I took a piece of tape and I taped the hole at the top so that NO smoke escaped from the bottle. Then I toke the bottle put it on the fridge for about 2-3 days and residue started to develop in the bottle. I did the same thing with the jug but there was more residue in the bottle than the jug and I did the same thing to both of them. {bottle&jug}
Observation: When I started my experiment like when I put the smoke in the bottle&jug it started to go all foggy and it was a grayish,brownish color.
Application: Smoking effects the enviroment because of the smoke that comes of the cigarette when it's lit and the smoke that comes out of people's lungs also. Smoking also effects the environment because of the second hand smoke that children take in after some one has a smoke or during when some one has a smoke or when a smoke is lit. It also effects the environment because we are losing many people in our world because of smoking some causes are cancer, lung diseases and meningitis. But I think that there's NO good reason for smoking. I wish there was no such thing as smoking.
