JELLY SENSES

Danielle and Florence
Problem: What is the affect of Jelly Belly jelly beans on student senses.
Hypothesis: We think that the girls we're going to test will have better taste buds on Jelly Belly jelly beans, than the boys we're going to test.
Materials: Our materials were: -12 students (6 boys 6 girls), -Jelly Belly jelly beans, -observation sheet, -pen, -flavour sheet.
Procedure:
Step 1: we got 12 students from our class to use in our testing.
Step 2: We blindfolded each student separately and gave them a jelly bean to taste. After they tasted the jelly bean, they had to guess what flavour (of the bean), then we recorded their answer (right or wrong)
Step 3: We did the same thing but, they got to see the jelly bean before they ate it.
Step 4: We gave them another jelly bean to taste but this time they just tasted it normally. Then once again we recorded it on our observation sheet.
Step 5: Then we gave them a jelly bean to taste but they had to plug their nose and guess the flavour.
Application: This could help the real world by helping figure out what makes taste buds react to different types of jelly beans.
Conclusion: Our conclusion was that the girls that we tested did have better taste buds on Jelly Belly jelly beans, that the guys we tested.
We could have improved our project by using a shorter variety of jelly bean flavours, and taking more time on cutting our paper for the backboard.
