Hi! My name is Michelle and my science fair partner is Amanda. Our science project is about

*MOLD AND FOOD*

I hope you'll enjoy my web-page!

~ MOLD AND FOOD ~

Problem: " What food does mold grow faster on?"

Hypothesis: We believe that the food with the most moisture will grow mold on faster than the dryer foods.

Materials: - different types of food groups, (grains, fruits and vegetable, dairy, meat and alternatives.) -jars, pencil and paper to record data.

Method: Step #1- gather the foods from different food groups, jars, pencil and paper. Step #2- put the foods in the jars. Step #3- put the jars with the food in it in a dark place. Step #4- check the food everyday to see the results.

Observation: We left the food for 4 days. When we took a look at it on the fourth day, the cheese began to melt, the rice got softer, nothing happened to the meat, the apple started to fall apart into pieces, the tomato grew little white spots on it. So the tomato and apple rot the fastest. We found out that it doesn't matter the type of food but it matters if the food has a lot of moisture in it or not. So the more moisture the food the faster it rots.

Conclusion: We accept our hypothesis.

Application: Don't leave food with moisture out (non-frigerated) because they rot faster than food with no moisture.

Well, that's it about our project.

I hope that you have enjoyed my website.

Buh-bye!
