First:

Students used a picture of an animal and drew an outline.  They added large shapes inside the animal.

Third:

Students cut out the largest inside shapes, traced them on the foam and glued them on the painted picture.  They continued to cut the various sizes of shapes and added them on top of the foam pieces.
