2009 M.Y.R.C.A. winner was Dear Jo: The Story of Losing Leah by
Christina Kilbourne.
The
2009 M.Y.R.C.A. Honour Books were Sketches by Eric Walters and Schooled
by Gordon Korman.

The last meeting of the M.Y.R.C.A. Book Club was held May 6th at noon in the Library. The club has been very successful. It has been truly amazing to see the enthusiasm, commitment and involvement of all the members. Special thanks to Ms. Shefrin and Mr. Waytowich for all their hard work.
March 2009
The
first meeting of the MYRCA
S.T.A.R.S. Book Club (Students
That
Are
Readers)
was held on February 25th with 20
students present.
This is an in-school club for Grade 6 students (supervised by Ms. Shefrin
and Mr. Waytowich) who will meet twice a month for lunch for the next few
months. The book club members will
read books selected from the Manitoba
Young
Reader's
Choice
Award (MYRCA) book list. (http://www.myrca.ca).
The
purpose of the book club is to expose the members to good young adult Canadian
Literature, allow them to respond to the books in a variety of interesting ways
(through music, art, writing, etc.) and to teach them how a book club works.
Future meeting dates will be: March 11, March 25, April 15, April 29 and May 6, 2009.
