MARSVILLE PROJECT IN ROOM 21

June 2006
Hey again Faraday! I have some good news and some not so good news. The good news is that we have completed Marsville and we went to Maples Collegiate for link up day. The not so good news is this is the last time I will get to write to you. But let’s focus on the good news… what we did was make a big giant plastic bubble. It was as tall as the gym. We had to live inside it for the whole day. We had a super time over the last three months studying Marsville. Goodbye and so long!
Shooting Star Public Affairs Officer.
Hi again, It’s me Space Girl! In the beginning of Marsville I thought it would be fun and I was right. It was a blast! We made a banner with out name and code name. We picked a project to build. Ours was Health and Recreation Centre. We built a Fitness Centre. On Link-Up Day April 21st we made our lunches and picked our uniforms. We went to
Maples Collegiate. Our number was 5b. We looked for someone to have the same number then we made a habitat that was big. Instead of calling it habitat people called it a bubble. We ate in the bubble to eat lunch. We did presentations we went home. I had a very good time of Marsville. It was great! Jenny
Hello Farday Friends! On April 21, 2006 at the Maples
Collegiate the culmination of Marsville took place. It was amazing. We arrived and met the other groups that we would be working with all day. After a short orientation there was a short video. We laid out our plastic and got to work. We ended up using lots of duct tape. The plastic part was the hard part but lucky for us we had a Grade 7 helper. After we got the box set up we worked on the fan. The fan was the easy part. Our habitat rose once we turned on the fan. After it went up all the way we ate lunch. We ate inside of our habitat. It was cool!!!! After lunch we listened and saw presentations. We shared what we had done to some other groups. During all this time one member was not building. He was hunting. Yes, Samuel was doing an internet scavenger hunt. He had just as much fun as us. It was time to pack up after the presentations. We put our stuff in Mr. Le Grand’s van and headed off of the bus ride back to school. It was the perfect way to end a great project!- Dylan B. P.A.O.

BLACK HOLE ALIENS
Hey Faraday! Our group has done a lot of work since last month. We started our life support system. We did transportation. We started off by figuring out plans for our vehicle came up with a really good design. We used a lot of glue but it was worth it. Our car is blue. It has passenger seats and storage room. Link-Up Day happens on Friday. We will work with other groups and it will be very exciting.
We have to make special lunches that day. They can only weigh 630 grams. We have to choose our food carefully. We will be wearing dark colours because of our group name. We will be building a big habitat that we can walk into and share our presentation. Dylan B.
MARS BARS
Hey again! Shooting Star reporting! Last time you read all three groups were
researching life support systems. Our group chose water as our life support system. We were the first group to
finish-yeah for us! We made mini clay people who represent all of us. We also had to think up lunches and a team
Uniform for Link-Up Day. Our lunches had to follow the Canadian Food Guide and we did a beach theme uniform. We are going or have gone to Maples Collegiate for the Link-Up Day on April 21st. I guess that is it! Shooting Star PAO
MARS POSSE
Hi there again it’s me Space Girl. So far we have worked very hard on our Marsville project about Health and Recreation. We made a building for Health and Recreation. We built five rooms and included a Fitness Centre, a Skating Rink, a Doctor’s Office, Bathrooms, a gym for indoor games and a Field Area for playing football, soccer and other outdoor games. The Skateboard Park is for skating. We can hardly wait to share our work with other interested people. Talk to you soon.

MARS POSSE
We have done many things the last time I wrote this month. We have finished our patch and we are doing health and recreation to see how we would survive on Mars. We found lots of information for our life support system. We worked really hard on our health and recreation and our patch. We are having a good time with our group doing the projects. We made a structure called “ How High Can You Go”. It was a project where we had to go and build a strong and high tower. I’ll see you next time I write to you. Take Care!
Black Hole Aliens
Hello Faraday! A lot has happened since the last article. We are working on transportation around Mars. We have done a lot of research. We did a really cool project. We made structures out of plasticine. Ours was blue. We had a lot of fun. We have finally started our Astronaut Training. We did some physical fitness training with Mr. P in the gym. He is our Physical Fitness Training Instructor. We are
enjoying building a Transportation System. You should check out our webpage. It has a picture of our patch and the astronaut qualifications for our team. Marsville is lots of fun!
MARS BARS
Hi there it’s me, Shooting Star! Now I bet you have been wondering what’s been going on since the last time you heard from me. Well we had to build a tall structure. We had to see which group’s structure would still be standing after we put a 500 kg weight on the structure. Guess which group’s structure won? Mars Bars!!!! Which means our group was the winner!
Our group won because the BHA group collapsed and so did the MP Group. Now all the groups had to pick a life support system for Mars. Our group picked water. We also had to use our brains and come up with designs for an astronaut patch. Our patch had to include Canada, Marsville and our group. Now we have to pick a patch that we think should win from around the country.
Everyone is enjoying Marsville 2006. Talk to you next time.
