It
is hard to believe we have already completed 2 months of school. October
was a very busy month with lots of activity in all classrooms. October
began with Grade 5 and 6 boys and girls playing in the district soccer
tournament. The weather was fantastic, and a good time was had by all.
Faraday students played hard, and showed good sportsmanship at all
times. Well done! We are now well into our Grade 5 and 6 water polo
classes which are held weekly at Cindy Klassen pool. A
big thank you to Lena Shore, president of the Parent Council,
for her hard work coordinating and selling the “Show and
Save” coupon books. Her efforts
have resulted in the sale of more than 240 books. The money that has
been raised will be directed by the Parent Council to various student
activities and events. I
would also like to thank the Faraday community for buying the “Show
and Save” coupon books. Your purchase will ultimately enrich the
classroom activities of all
students at Faraday. Again, thanks! A
reminder that report cards will be going home on November 25th. Please
take the time to review and discuss your child’s report card with
them. This shows your child that you are aware of what is on the report
card, and value what they do at school. Our
Parent/Teacher Interviews will be on Thursday, November 27th from
1:00 to 3:30 and 5:00 to 8:00. This is an excellent
opportunity to sit down with your child’s teacher to review
what has been happening in the classroom to date, and to hear what will
be occurring for the next reporting period, and to discuss any concerns
you have about you child’s progress at Faraday. If you are unable to
make it to the Parent/Teacher interviews,
phone your son/daughter’s teacher to set up a time when you can meet. Please
make sure your child is dressed for the weather conditions of the day.
November can have very warm days followed by bitterly cold north winds
and be a miserable day. It is very important that they have clothing on
to deal with the weather conditions. Could you also stress with your
son/daughter that they are to only cross at intersections with crossing
guards or patrols. Students put themselves at risk when they cross the
street in the middle of the block, especially on Mountain Avenue where
parked cars may hide them from oncoming
traffic. As
always, please feel free to call your son/daughter’s teacher if you
have any concerns or questions. I
look forward to seeing you during Parent/Teacher interviews. Yours
in Education, Mr. Rick Cockrem, Principal Ms.
Jeannette Tourangeau, Vice-Principal
