As I write the Principal’s message I am looking out my office window at
trees that still have green leaves, and a playground with green grass (and
weeds). It has truly been a remarkable Fall. October has been a very busy
month at Faraday. Certainly the hi-lite was our Run For Funds which
occurred on October 16th. Students helped raise over
$7,000.00 dollars which will be
used in the classrooms of Faraday to enrich the student’s learning
experiences. Again the Faraday community pulled together to make Faraday
the great school it is. I offer a big thank you from all the staff and
students of Faraday for your generosity. If you are ever at Faraday please drop into the Family Room
(Room 15) on the second floor. Eric McGillivary, a parent, is the
co-ordinator for the upcoming school year. He has created a warm, inviting
environment where you can sit down and enjoy a cup of coffee as well as
look at all the community information available on the bulletin boards.
You are always welcome to drop in. A reminder that report cards will be going home on November 24. Please take the time to review and discuss your son/daughter’s report card with them. This clearly shows your child that you are aware of what is on their report card, and value what they do at Faraday. Parent/Teacher interviews will be on Thursday, November 26th from 1:00 to 3:30 and 5:00 – 8:00. This is an excellent opportunity to
sit down with your child’s teacher to review
their report card, as well as hear
what will be occurring in the class for the next while.
At this time you may wish to discuss any concern’s you have
regarding your child’s progress
at Faraday. If you are unable to make the Parent/Teacher
interviews please phone your child’s teacher to set up a time
when you can meet. Our annual Bookfair will be set up in the Library from 1:00
– 8:30 during our
Parent/Teacher interviews. Students will have already had a chance to
preview the books, this might be an ideal time to treat your child to a
gift of a book or two. Faraday has a comprehensive plan in place in the event students or staff come down with the H1N1 Flu. Faraday staff have had information sessions about the symptoms of H1N1 flu, and how to deal with students who have the flu. An informal parent information session about the H1N1 flu will be held on November 10 in our Family Room. The session will be run by 2 fourth year Faculty of Nursing students, supported by our public health nurse. Feel free to drop in any time from 8:30 to Noon and 1:00 to 4:00 with any questions you may have. As always, please feel free to call your son/daughter’s teacher if you
have any questions or concerns. I look forward to seeing you at our
Parent/Teacher interviews on November 26th. Mr. Rick Cockrem
