Community Report June 2009

Welcoming Messages  from our Principals

May has gone in a flash, and June will undoubtedly be no different!  We have had great success with the MYRCA Book Club, and students involved in choir have had great enjoyment in the Honour Choir Workshops & Performance.

Now, with June, comes a host of activities planned in the school as well as in the community.  Please keep informed of the events by looking at the June Newsletter.

Final report cards will be going home on June 25th.  This will   provide you with time to go over the report card with your   child/ren, and phone the school if there are any questions.  Last day of classes will be on Tuesday, June 30th.  Students will be dismissed at 11:30 A.M.

Classes for Grades 1 – 6 will begin on Wed., September 9th.  Nursery and Kindergarten will begin on Friday,  September 11th.  As is our practice, students are to remain outside until the bells ring, and then return to their previous classroom where the students will be picked up by their new classroom teacher.  New students are to go to the music room by the office where they will receive assistance in finding their classroom.

If you have a child aged four before December 31, 2009 or know of a family with nursery aged children, please let them know that they can register for the Nursery program at Faraday by calling the school at 586-8583.

As it often happens, with the closing of another school year, comes a time when staff depart, and there is a return to Faraday School.  This year, we bid Ms. L. March, Ms. S. Harik and Ms. A. Melnyk farewell.  We thank them for their  dedication in bringing excellent programs to our school.  We wish them the best!  We will miss their collegiality and the warmth and congenial characteristics they have brought to Faraday and community.

We welcome returning staff, Ms. S. Bell and Ms. A. Klepatz; and we welcome to  Faraday School, Ms. R. Curtis and Ms C. Lewis, our new staff members.

The following are class changes in the staff for 2009-2010 school year:

Ms. R Curtis Nursery (AM only)
Ms. W. Horbacio Kindergarten
Ms. C. Lewis Grade One
Ms. K. Adamov Grade One/Two
Ms. D. Yakimoski Grade Three/Four
Ms. D. Bourbonnais Grade Four/Five
Ms. S. Bell Computer/Resource

In closing, we would like to take this moment to wish you and your family and friends a safe, warm and happy summer.  We look forward to seeing you in the new school year.

Mr. R. Cockrem,  Principal

Ms. J. Tourangeau, Vice-Principal
