Poetry Corner
Little hands upon the book,
Eyes so eager to see
A spark of happiness lights up her face,
" Could this really be for me?"
The first page is wonderful, pages full of wonderful colour,
Words come from my mother, just like a lullaby.
By the last page it is getting very late,
So it is time to say goodbye.
All night I will dream such wonderful dreams,
All from that fabulous book.
Tomorrow night is another night,
So I will get another book.
- by Jessica -
she pulled me up by the foot, from the box
and squealed in
sweet delight
with the discovery that
my eyes are the kind
that open
and shut
it does get rather dizzying at times.
she dresses me in blue-flowered blouses
and red, striped pants
my hair is a hurricane photograph
yet I love her unconditionally as she loves me.
she has become a teenager
thought of
as very cool
and I'm hidden in her underwear drawer
yet I love her unconditionally
as she might love me.
Grown up and in school
she's left me on the shelf
for friends of the family
to play with
she comes back once a month
and when no one is looking
gives me a quick hug.
she's almost forgotten me now
soon to have a baby, a real one
and
I'm covered in dust
yet I love her unconditionally
as she once loved me.
