"WELCOME TO ROOM 11"

We had an assembly on February 11.  We sang two songs, "On Valentines Day" and "It's a Fun Day, Yes Indeed". and we recited two poems.  Before we performed we felt shy, scared, and embarrased.   After we sang and recited we heard the applause and we had fun.

On the 100th day of school we did activities in Rm. 12.  It was fun.  We put 100 fruit loops on a string, counted 100 steps in the hall, made the number 100 into a monster, touched our toes 100 times, and graphed 100 unifix cubes.  We have been enjoying our month at school.

Fun Fact of the Month: Bird Feeder Experiment

Birds can use a little extra food from us in the winter. Here is a neat experiment for you to try at home.

You will need:

3 pine cones

3 different kinds of bird seed

peanut butter

string

note book

3 different colours of ribbon

Spread the peanut butter on your pine cones and roll each pine cone in a different kind of bird seed. To make sure that you can easily tell them apart put string on them so that they can be hung and tie a different coloured ribbon to each. In your notebook record the date that you hung the pine cone feeders and which colour of ribbon represents which type of seed. (ie red ribbon on sunflower seed pine cone, yellow ribbon on wild birdseed pine cone, blue ribbon on domestic canary seed pine cone). Set aside time, each afternoon to observe your feeders. Which birds prefer which types of seeds? Record your daily observations in your notebook. Make sure you share you results with us!
