Principal's Message
Anin... Tansi... Wotziye... Tanshi
Children of the Earth is a unique educational setting in which our students are given the opportunity to gain knowledge of and experience Aboriginality in their daily educational lives. In all academic areas aboriginal perspectives are incorporated into current Manitoba curricula, enriching it and making its outcomes more meaningful to our students.
A wide range of cultural activities are offered on a daily, weekly and monthly schedule allowing our students hands on experiences with the culture and traditions from our collective histories and to explore contemporary issues and topics important to their development as the future leaders of our nation and people.
Children of the Earth commitment to preservation of heritage languages, Cree and Ojibwe, allows it to be the only non immersion high school with language requirements for graduation.
Our school community received a great honour from MacLean's Magazine, as we were selected as one of Canada's Top Ten High Schools! This national honour is quite significant as we were selected for our high quality of education and inclusion mandate of incorporation of the aboriginal perspective that our school has been working towards ever since our doors opened in 1991. This honour come about as a direct result of the collaboration of community visionaries and the Winnipeg School Division who saw the need for our school and worked together towards its inception, development and continuance.
Once again welcome to Children of the Earth. Where our Students' Spirits Soar.
