Today, January 10, 2003, North Korea responded to requests for its plans on Nuclear Weapons by withdrawing from a 1994 agreement when it signed the1968 Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty.  

1994 agreement:
North Korea promised to give up its nuclear weapons program and allow inspections to verify that it did not have the material such weapons would require.
