 WSO 16th New Music Festival - February 10-16, 2007

San Francisco Symphony Orchestra  -  SFS Kids

This exciting interactive web site Fun with Music challenges kids to get their hands on the keyboard and make music.  There are sections for Instruments of the Orchestra,   The Music Lab, and What's Up at the Symphony.  In the Music Lab, kids can go for all the neat stuff that makes great music and listen to the Performalator (check out the radio at the bottom) and make different compositions in the Composerizer

New York Philharmonic Orchestra  -  Kidszone

Note: You may need to download a newer version of Shockwave to activate their links.

The NY Phil Kidszone  is for Elementary and Middle Schools.  Orchestra basics are presented to young music students.  They become enthusiastic about making  beautiful music at this fun Web site.  Meet musicians, composers and conductors, familiarize yourself with philharmonic instruments by family, make your own instrument and much more.  At the bottom of the page, visit the main activities such as Composers' Gallery. In the Instrument Storage Room, you can see (watch the video) and hear the sounds of the music makers from the orchestra's main sections. In the Composer's Gallery, take the baton in your hand to click and connect with many of the great ones. Play the Music Match Game and hear the instruments you match.  Go On the Road to "accompany" the NY Phil.

Take a back stage tour of the orchestra and groove to the video clips.  Go to the Green room.  Meet the guest artists backstage.

There is Stuff for Teachers  in Early Childhood, Teacher Resources, Take Note, and Music Resources Online.

The main page for the New York Philharmonic extends your IT music experience.  Look at How to Prepare for a concert, What is classical music, What is a symphony orchestra, Will I recognize the music, Do I need to know the music before I attend a performance, Activities for Kids, Events for Teens, Stuff for Teachers
