School Programs

Nursery & Kindergarten

The nursery program is available for children who will be four years old by December 31st of the year of enrollment.  Kindergarten children must be five years old by December 31st of the year of enrollment.  Children who have attended nursery do not have to register for kindergarten.  Registration for the next year's classes begins in mid February of each year.

In the interest of safety, nursery children should be accompanied to and from school each day by a parent or responsible person.

If there is to be a change in the person designated to pick up nursery or kindergarten children, please inform the classroom teacher.

Comprehensive Assessment Program (CAP)

The Comprehensive Assessment Program, is an integral part of the elementary program in The Winnipeg School Division.  The goal of the program is to identify the strengths and areas of difficulty of children when they enter school.  The program also provides appropriate services and programs to meet the identified needs of these children.

All N-6 children participate in this comprehensive screening program during the fall.  The resource teacher is an integral part of this program.

Program components also include vision, hearing, school readiness, gross motor, and speech and language.  Information regarding the CAP is shared during parent-teacher conferences and/or whenever it is appropriate throughout the year.
