National UNESCO ASPnet Conference, April 17 - 18, 2008

Brock Corydon School is fortunate to be involved with Winnipeg’s first National UNESCO ASPnet Conference. This conference will give 12 of our Grade 5 and 6 students the opportunity to meet dynamic and action driven individuals who are leaders in the area of Human Rights such as Lloyd Axworthy, Gail Asper and Fred Penner.  Together with Grade 5-12 student representatives from the  other UNESCO schools in Manitoba, our students will also participate in a series of workshops with a variety of enthralling speakers who will help engage the students in the move to action related to Human Rights.
The conference theme “ACT NOWASPnet Comes Together—Needs Over Wants” is about inspiring students to action, making a difference while getting involved.  The afternoon of April 17th will be devoted to providing the grade 5 and 6 student delegates with the opportunity to ACT NOW.  They will assemble Health Kits to be sent to various Refugee Camps through the Mennonite Central Committee.
