Environmental Action

A message from the Environmental Action Team:

The E.A.T was an idea made by few students in grade 5 who were concerned about global warming and its effects to our environment.  Now, in January, we have started having weekly meetings. We have been talking about starting a club, for the whole school to join.  Our main goal is to educate people, since global warming is a problem. We hope that this club can be started soon, so that everyone will know what global warming is and its effects.

Global warming is something caused by man(us) by using too much Carbon Dioxide, manufacturing too much stuff and then throwing it, and not using biodegradable products (biodegradable means things that can become soil again and will not hurt the earth). Global Warming means animals like our lovable Polar Bear becoming extinct, or the ugly walrus, which isn't cute, but we have to care about it too. Our Polar ice caps are melting, our air is becoming unbreathable, and our water is as dirty as ever before.

What can you do? Join our club when we start it to find out how you can make a difference. In the meantime, visit www.stopglobalwarming.org and join the virtual march to stop global warming!  Our message is that we can all make a difference.

Hannah, Rm 4, for the E.A.T. members Dale, Elijah, Mira, Rebecca, Isanne, Jessica.

A Declaration for Sustainable Development

A Declaration for Sustainable Development

Planet Earth is our home.

We depend on the earth for our survival.

I am concerned about inequity and injustice in the world.

I know that what I do (or don't do) affects others now & in the future.

I have the power and responsibility to make a difference in the world.

I am willing to question, seek alternatives & help change the way we do things.

As a citizen of Planet Earth, I choose to live my life in a way that contributes to a more equitable world

& inspires hope for the future.
