Priority: Strengthen
Reading, Writing and Mathematics Skills and Strategies.
Teachers will focus on
the following:

refining
and strengthening their instructional and assessment strategies in numeracy,
reading and writing |
 |
increasing their
repertoire of instructional strategies to meet the diverse learning needs of
their students. |
 |
in Grades 1-3,
increasing their numeracy instruction strategies by the end of the school
year. |
 |
in Grades 4-6,
developing an increased awareness of the early years numeracy instructional
strategies and continuum of numeracy skills. |
 |
increasing their
knowledge of how to help students become life long readers and writers. |
Students will be working
towards the following outcomes:

in Kdg and Grades 1-3,
demonstrating greater understanding of numeracy by the end of the school year. |

in Gr. 4-6,
demonstrating greater understanding of numeracy by the end of the school year. |

along the continuum of reading and writing skills by the end of the school

ability to read and write informational text |
Parents will have a

Links Among Schools, Families and Communities.
Our Brock Corydon School
community will be working towards the following outcomes:

increasing the number
of students registering for our English program. |
 |
making the school
facility more attractive. |
 |
students participating
in more extracurricular activities and assuming more leadership roles in the
school. |
 |
students from both
tracks participating in dynamic classroom and school programming. |
 |
parents/guardians/other family members actively volunteering in classrooms and
within the school. |

parents/guardians/other family members having greater opportunities to use the
school’s facilities i.e. Library, Computer Lab, Gym. |

involving the greater
neighbourhood community in school activities. |

Curriculum Integration of the UNESCO ASP net Themes ( World
concerns, Role of
the United Nations,
Human Rights, Democracy, Tolerance, Intercultural Learning, Environmental Issues
and Education for
Sustainable Development).

Our school community
of students, staff and family members will have a greater understanding of
Brock Corydon School’s role as national member of
UNESCO’s Associated School Network. |
 |
Teachers will be
developing learning activities that will incorporate the UNESCO themes using
current inquiry based
instructional practice, integrating the Arts (Drama, Music, Dance and Fine
Art), and taking advantage of the Library Resource
Centre, technology and the outdoor classroom. |
 |
Students will be
involved in learning activities that will help develop their skills and
strategies to:

exercise safe and
healthy behaviours, care and concern for others and for the environment in
their local, national, and global community. |
 |
be empowered to make
a difference in their personal lives as well as locally and globally through
collaborative problem-solving and decision-making

Priority: Strengthen
Curriculum Development, Integration and Implementation.
 |
Teachers will
collaborate with Provincial and Division consultants to pilot the new Grade
5/6 Social Studies curriculum, implement the new
Physical Education/Health Curriculum, integrate the Arts and technology. |
 |
Hebrew teachers will
collaborate with Provincial consultants and the Seven Oaks bilingual program
in developing a Hebrew Curriculum implementation
document that will strengthen their understanding of Hebrew language
instruction and learning and the cultural component
of the curriculum. |
