What is the symbolism behind the "Bits and Bytes" logo?

bblogo.gif (2071 bytes) The new "Bits and Bytes" logo at left is comprised of the apple outline which represents the educational focus of this newsletter. Obviously, the two "B"s represent "Bits and Bytes". However, I purposely chose to mirror or reflect these two initials because I hope this newsletter presents information from a variety of perspectives that cause readers to reflect and think. The compass points at the centre started out as a plus sign representing the "and" in "Bits and Bytes". However, I felt the symbolism of the compass to be quite appropriate as we all attempt to navigate through the technological changes that are being introduced into our classrooms and administrative offices. Additionally the four arrows remind me that the primary purpose of this newsletter is to facilitate and foster the sharing of ideas, resources and information in all directions. With this issue marking the start of my sixteenth year as editor of "Bits and Bytes", I trust that with your continued support and willingness to share, we will continue to progress as reflected by the symbolism of this new logo.
