Users may acquire any individual images throughout Volumes 1 to 11 of this web resource by viewing each "thumbnail" representation in full-sized detail by clicking on the image button or the respective underlined link. Users may then select individual images by right-clicking on the full-sized image and saving the graphic to their local computer. Those wishing to acquire the full-sized images displayed as part of this resource may select either the GIF or JPG formats for downloading. GIF files will work well on web pages where the 72 dots per inch resolution will be fine for computer screen resolution. The JPG formatted images are better suited to paper display with their enhanced 300 dots per inch resolution. You may wish to prepare your hard drive in advance of the download procedure by creating a directory/folder (if you have not already created one) named "C:\DOWNLOAD" into which the following files may be saved. One can then begin the download procedure by clicking on the respective self-extracting executable GIF and/or JPG file. Next one will be prompted by your Netscape or Internet Explorer browser software to "Save" the file. Simply navigate to the directory/folder "C:\DOWNLOAD" and "Save" the file to this location on your hard drive. Repeat these same steps for each of the files you wish to download from the links below:
All 22 of the above links have been created as "self-extracting executable" files. Each file contains between 6 and 15 compressed or "zipped" Aboriginal clip art images. Theses images can be expanded to their original size, without the need for additional "unzipping" software by simply double-clicking on the respective "self-extracting executable" file in the "C:\DOWNLOAD" folder/directory. If you automatically accept the default folders that the "WinZip Self-Extractor" software chooses to unzip the files to, such as "C:\ACLIPART\VOL1\GIF" and click on the "Unzip" button when prompted, the Aboriginal GIF and/or JPG images will be placed on your hard drive in an organized system for easy access. For example, if the the Aboriginal clip art in the file
"VOL7GIF.EXE" is executed by double-clicking, and the default
file allocations are not changed, the 14 expanded or "unzipped" images
will be transferred to the folder/directory: C:\ACLIPART\VOL7\GIF
Once all your downloaded executable files have been unzipped to the respective "Volume" directories in your "C:\ACLIPART" folder, it would be advantageous for you to use your browser to print up each Volume "thumb-nail" page from this web site. Keep each Volume page as a reference so that you can easily identify the respective Aboriginal image file. Double-clicking on each individual Aboriginal GIF or JPG should load it into software so that you can view the image. If not, use any image manipulation software such as Paint, Publisher, Lview or FrontPage to load the respective image(s) files and resize them to meet your particular needs. Once all Aboriginal clip art images have been "unzipped" and organized in the "C:\ACLIPART" folder, one can return to the "C:DOWNLOAD" folder and save the respective "Volume" executable files on floppy disks for backup and then delete the originals from the hard drive to free up space. Should you have any problems with the download or the unzipping process, contact Brian Metcalfe at: bmetcalfe@wsd1.org for additional assistance. |
