1. Valdemar Poulson was the first to invent this device, and called his invention the telegraphphone.

2. The MT-5 is a type of this device and is a battery operated 2-track machine with 5 reels.

3. The MK 3 and later designs were produced to replace the first crude design of the device.

4. This device was introduced to the UK in the late forties.

5. Between the two reels, a soft rubber pinch roller presses the tape tightly against a metal rod called a capstan.
