This information was researched and written by Daniella in Grade 6-09 Clothing The Inuit killed animals for their skin because they needed it for clothing. The women, children, and men wore the same clothing called Trousers. The Inuit wore parkas, boots, socks, hoods, and mittens. The Inuit used caribou for clothing. They also used polar bear fur, fox fur, and seal skin if there are no caribou. The women would decorate the clothing with other fur, beads, and good luck charms. The women would carry their young ones in their big hoods. Most of the Inuit would wear 2 layers of clothing in the winter. The Inuit would use caribou skin to make clothing in the summer. The Inuit made their boots out of seal skin. Inuit women were experts at making clothing. The Inuit women would make little boots for their huskies so that the huskies wouldn’t get ice splinters. Food The Inuit eat all different kinds of food. The Inuit eat fish, seals, and whales, caribou, hares, and foxes. The Inuit catch the fish in the rivers, lakes, and seas. The Inuit got a great gift if they caught a huge whale. The Inuit divided the meat and blubber into huge pieces. Every Inuit got a huge piece of the meat and the blubber. The Init had lots of Caribou that lasted them a long time for eating. In the summer time the Inuit would eat wild berries and plants if possible. The Inuit eat seaweed, vetch, and sorrel leaves. In the winter the Inuit need to eat blubber or else they wouldn’t survive. The Inuit use animal blood to make blood soup. The Inuit drink the ice and snow when it melts. The Inuit used soapstone to make pots to cook their food in. Weapons The Inuit had lots of weapons. The Inuit used the weapons to kill animals because they needed to use the meat and skin for food and for clothing. They had guns, harpoons, steel knives, axes, and also bows and arrows. Bibliography
