Parent Council Introduction

The Sargent Park School Parent Council has a tradition of cooperative effort and support at Sargent Park School. Our parents volunteer in a wide variety of activities within the school.

Parent Council monthly meetings are structured in two parts. The first part covers the business items and the second part features a topic or a presentation of interest and information for the parents. Often, there is an invited speaker and an opportunity for informal parent and administration conversation.

We are experienced in the following areas and we appreciate your inquiries:

	Monthly Hot Dog / Pizza Day
	Playground Structure Project, sports and music equipment.
	Code of Conduct Committee and School safety issues
	A daily Lord's Prayer Assembly (in compliance to the Winnipeg School Division guidelines.)
	"Elementary Lunch Program" supervised and run by the Parents.

We are looking for ideas for the following areas:

	Parent involvement on committees with teachers and administration within the school.
	Broaden the base of parent support in a diverse cultural community.
	New and innovative fund raising events which promote positive family values and do not involve gambling.
