What is your first name and what is your profession ?

My name Larry and I am a building service operator II for the city of Winnipeg.

What does your job consist of ?

My job consists of cleaning the hockey arena and ice maintenance including flooding the ice rink, cleaning the ice, and boards surrounding the ice. I work with chemicals that regulate the temperature of the ice and clean the building's interior and exterior.

Does your job involve using mathematics in any way?

Yes, I have to fill the zamboni with a curtain amount of water so I have to know volume. The amounts of chemical we use are important so no damage is done; there for I have to know metrics. I also have to know volume to check the thinness of the ice.

When you were in school did you ever think you would use mathematics in your everyday life and in your job?

I never really thought about it at the time, but now I realize I use mathematics in every thing I do on job.
