Celine Dion's life

Celine Dion was born March 30, 1968 in Charlemange, Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The youngest of 14 children, Celine Dion was a vastly popular artist at home long before her success in the U.S. and European charts as the new Whitney Houston or Mariah Carey! In 1994 Celine Dion got married to Rene Angelil, who is 26 years older than she is.

The world has truly discovered Celine Dion. Blessed with one of the most popular voices of music, she has crossed all barriers, even the language barrier. Celine learned English in 1989, and had her first English concert in 1990. Her first English album was "Unison".

With video shoots, touring, appearing on T. V. shows and awards specials, it seems like Celine Dion is too busy for other things. But actually, Celine has time to even write songs for her family. One of her most emotional songs, "Vole" from the Deux album (later translated into English as the song "Fly" which appears on the "Falling Into You" album) is a memorial to her niece, Karine, who died from Cystic Fibrosis.

Cystic Fibrosis

Cystic Fibrosis affects the respiratory system by allowing bacteria to go within it, impairing the body's natural defenses. Cystic Fibrosis occurs in roughly one of every 3,000 live births. This disease is marked by chronic infections, clogged airways, and digestive and reproductive problems. Children struck by the disease were not expected to reach their eighth birthday. Celine has used her talents to further the cause of the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation because of her niece, Karine who died of this disease. In fact one of Celine's most emotional songs ("Vole") was dedicated to her. Cystic Fibrosis is tough on the children afflicted with the disease and on their families.
