The Process Storywriting Puppets Sharing

Grade Nine Grade One Fantasy Stories

The purpose of this project was to have  Grade Nine and Grade One students  ‘buddy-up’ in pairs to learn about the parts of a good story and then to write a fantasy story.  The first step was  for the students to be paired according to how their individual classroom teachers felt they would work best together.  Then, in their pairs,  they  discussed,  and then completed a  ‘favourite things’ survey.  The students leaned about character, setting, plot and problem from a storybook that the Grade 1 student chose.  The Grade 9 and Grade 1 students went back to their classrooms to write their own story.  The Grade 9 story contained many of the Grade 1 student's favourite things.  Puppets of the Grade 1 character were made, and a sharing party was held
