Grade9/Grade1 Adventure Stories

Adventure Stories

by Grade Nine and Grade One Students

at Sargent Park

Students from Grade Nine and Grade One at Sargent Park School worked in pairs to create adventure stories.  The Grade Ones students each chose a picture book and this book was used by the Grade Nine buddy throughout the whole process to help the Grade One student understand character, setting and problem.  The students each went back to their classrooms after the first four meetings in the library and wrote an adventure story.  The Grade One student could choose any character other than the one in his/her original picture book and the Grade Nine student wrote a story which included many of  the favourite things of the Grade One student.  The Grade Nine students helped their Grade One buddies create and decorate a puppet figure of the main character of their story.  Students shared their stories during an ice cream party when the stories were completed.
