Claymations 18

Fog Magic

by Julia L. Sauer

In the beginning of the novel, Greta is in her cradle sleeping soundly. She lives in a village on the foot of a mountain on the other side of town called Blue Cove. The village always had foggy weather so she learned to love it. Her parents didn’t like the idea but they let her discover the world that she lived in. The village is in Nova Scotia, a province in Canada.

In the middle of Fog Magic, Mrs. Laleah, a person who lives in an imaginary world goes to Halifax to meet the duke for justice. She walked the whole way although some people offered her rides. When she arrived she met someone who would help her through her mission. When she met the duke in the Government House Ball, she was wearing her wedding dress. She explained to the duke about things they need in their village, Blue Cove and the duke said that he will see to it that it will be done.

At the end of the novel, it’s Greta’s 12th birthday and her father waits for her at the bottom of the mountain. That’s because she forgot her sweater in Blue Cove. Before she gets it, she runs through the Morrill’s kitchen and for a present, Mrs. Morrill gives Greta a kitten. Then as Greta gets over to her dad, he shows her a knife that he had kept since his 12th birthday and tells her about it’s history. Greta then shows her kitten and her dad said that she could keep it but she’s responsible for it.

My favourite part of the story was about Anthony because it’s interesting to learn about someone strange. Also, I drew a knife because Greta’s dad kept it for so long - since his 12th birthday. I think that Greta liked that because he kept it through all his mischief. I also drew Greta’s house because it reminds me how hard pioneers worked to build shelter. Also, it reminds me about when I was in grade 2, and I learned about what the pioneers did and all their hard work for their everyday things.
