Once upon a time there were two owls. Their names were Kyle and Kelly. They were Snowy Owls. Kyle, the male, had pure white feathers and Kelly, the female, had white feathers with dark spotting. They both had black beaks, yellow eyes and a round head. 

One morning they decided to go for a walk. They hadn’t gone far when they came across a little clump of bushes. Both owls were a little frightened because they knew anything could be hiding in the bushes and might jump out and pounce on them at any minute. They were right, because at that very moment, Fox jumped out of the bushes.

The two very startled owls were so scared that they started to run as fast as their feather covered feet could carry them.  Finally Fox gave up.

That night Kyle and Kelly were so tired that they fell asleep as soon as their heads hit their nest. When they woke up in the morning, Kyle decided it was time to go hunting. While Kyle was gone, Kelly thought she’d better start laying eggs.

By the time Kyle got home, Kelly had already laid  five white eggs. Kyle was impressed.  That night they awoke to the terrifying sound of wolf howls.
