Guitar Club (beginners)

Additional Information Students will be taught basic chords and guitar maintenance tips. The school owns 15 acoustic guitars. Students must sign-in when entering room 13. ADHD Club

Additional Information Ecole River Heights is offering a support group for students with a clinical diagnosis of Attention Deficit Disorder, with or without hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). This group will be conducted by Mrs. Noseworthy and Mrs. Thanisch (resource teachers), Mrs. Karlinsky (guidance counsellor), Mr. Lang (school psychologist), and Mrs. Nerman  (school social worker). The purpose of the club is to provide students with strategies for dealing with ADHD symptoms. Topics will include organizational skills, homework methods, study skills, as well as emotional aspects associated with ADHD.  

EAL Club

Additional Information Students new to Canada are invited to attend. Students share their country of origin and culture with the group and learn more about the history, politics, geography, and culture of Canada. Students should listen to morning announcements for dates of meetings.

Weight Lifting Club

Where? The weight room is located in the gym balcony.
Additional Information Students interested in participating need to return a signed permission slip to the teacher in charge. Students need to be in their gym clothes to participate. Craft Club

Additional Information Crafts will include :personalized gift bags, flower pots, wooden holiday ornaments, signs, beadwork, origami, weaving, candy roses and many more. All supplies are provided. Students should listen to the daily announcements for times and dates of craft club meetings. New members are always welcome.

Debating

There will be a handful of debates for novice debaters throughout the year.  Interested students who are already somewhat familiar with the basics of parliamentary debating should watch the written announcements for information about tournaments or meetings.  The first debate of the year will be on November 14th at St. Mary's Academy.  Please contact Mr. Steele (csteele@wsd1.org) for more information.

Sign Language Club
