The following are various types of volunteer
opportunities we have available at the Winnipeg School Division.
The time requirement for any of these positions is 2 hours a
week, Monday to Friday, between 9:00 a.m. & 3:30 p.m.

| CLASSROOM ASSISTANT |
|
To work in the classroom with the teacher
in helping to develop student skills. All activities are planned
by the classroom teacher.
|
| RESOURCE PROGRAM ASSISTANT |
|
To work individually with students to help them to develop
skills related to the school curriculum. Under the supervision of
the resource teacher, volunteers work with students to develop basic
language, reading, spelling or math skills.

| DIAGNOSTIC LEARNING CENTRE
VOLUNTEERS |
|
To work on a one-to-one basis with a
student from the Diagnostic Learning Centre to reinforce the learning
and skills acquired during their time at the Centre. Volunteers
follow a reading program designed to meet the needs of the individual
student.

| SPEECH AND LANGUAGE
DEVELOPMENT VOLUNTEER |

To assist speech clinicians working with
children to help develop their speech and language patterns. Work
with the children is on a one-to-one basis or in some instances in a
small group setting.
|
| LIBRARY ASSISTANT |
|
To assist the teacher librarian in the
operation of the school library. To assist with circulation of
library materials, mend and repair materials, shelving of books and
maintain vertical files.
|
| FRENCH BILINGUAL ASSISTANT |
|
To provide assistance to students in a
French bilingual program. Volunteers may assist in the classroom
or on a one-to-one basis helping students to develop their French
language skills. |
