Volunteering

General Information

The Winnipeg School Division Volunteer Program enables interested parents and members of the community to assist administrators, teachers and other school personnel in helping young people more fully develop their skills, their potential as individuals, and their mastery of subject matter.

You will contribute your time and talent in a variety of different ways to extend and diversify children's learning opportunities.

Qualifications

bulletan interest in working with children in a school setting
bulletminimum age requirement 16 years old
bulletwilling to accept direction and supervision from school staff
bulletwilling to participate in an in person interview with a Coordinator of Volunteer Service.  At that time you will complete a volunteer registration form, a Child Abuse Registry Check form and forms for mail in Criminal Record Search (paid for by the Winnipeg School Division).

Time Commitment

bullet2 hours a week, Monday to Friday, between 9:00 a.m. & 3:30 p.m.
bullet minimum 4 month commitment

please bring to the interview 2 pieces of identification (driver's license, health card, SIN number, birth certificate)

bulletat the interview you will complete a registration form; forms for child abuse registry check and criminal record search which we will process and is paid for by the Winnipeg School Division
bulletduring the interview you will have the opportunity to discuss various placements available in our schools and decide upon a program that best suits your time and interest
bulletorientation and training will be provided at the school where you have chosen to volunteer.
