SUMMARY:  Participants will learn the role anger plays in escalating or de-escalating a potential crisis, healthy steps for managing their own anger, appropriate ways of expressing anger and how to use rational detachment as a tool to reduce their level of anger. The Pebble in the pond.  Winnipeg: Blonde Indian Productions, c2001. 1 videocassette (14 min.) + 1 loose-leaf binder – (Acting peace).
SUMMARY:  A presentation of the Acting Peace approach to violence prevention, comprised of four sections: The incident, Responses to the incident, the aftermath and the classroom. It is intended to be a teaching and discussion tool to illustrate what the problem of youth violence is and how it affects high school students. SUMMARY:  Participants will learn to identify and overcome their own roadblocks to listening, distinguish various forms of two-way listening and assess the advantages and pitfalls of each approach, and use empathic listening as a tool that will enhance rapport with their students. Youth crises : Planning the response to hostage taking, shootings & suicide.  Bloomington, IN: Agency for Instructional Technology, c1997. 1 videocassette (36 min., 31 sec.) + facilitator’s guide + crisis intervention and follow-up plans guide.
SUMMARY:  When violence erupts in a school or youth facility, or when it affects a member of the school community, the aftershocks of the even spread far and last long. In this program, educators, law enforcement officers and community members present practical strategies and procedures about what to do and what not to do in a particular crisis situation.  Audience:  A.  BOOKING # VR3375
