Support is provided to principals and teacher-librarians for the development and improvement of school library programs, collections and facilities including preparation for school library automation.

Orientation sessions to LSS for teacher-librarians new to the Division or to the specific position are provided as required.

Training sessions for clerical/technical staff new to WSD school libraries are provided as required. [PDF brochure]

Meetings with a PD focus for teacher-librarians are provided throughout the school year.

Meetings with a PD focus for paraprofessionals in charge of school libraries are provided throughout the year.

The Library Consultant also acts in an advisory capacity to the Program Planning Committee in planning and facilitating implementation of the professional development program.

Presentations on the philosophy of school library service, on the implementation of resource-based learning, information literacy and cooperative program planning and teaching; and on preparation for school library automation are available upon request.  [PDF brochure].  Workshops/seminars on other topics, such as information literacy for parents, are negotiable.
