  • Department Heads' Council:  Senior High

The 15 English Language Arts Department Heads from the Winnipeg School Division high schools and special schools meet regularly to discuss crucial questions such as course development, resources, strategies students need to succeed, differentiated instruction and current issues such as the Provincial S4 Standards Test.

 

  • Senior 1, Credit 2: English Language Arts (SIC-Strategic Reading/Writing/Learning)

Many WSD schools are offering Strategic Reading/Writing/Learning as a second S1 English Language Arts credit.  Call Gwen Watson for more information at 788-0203 ext. 114.

 

  • Senior 1 Transition English Language Arts

The S1 Transition English Language Arts course was designed to meet the needs of struggling learners as part of the Winnipeg School Division No. 1 High School Transition Certificate. Call Gwen Watson at 788-0203 ext. 114 for more information.

 

  • Support For Schools:

Schools often ask consultants for support with specific projects such as implementation of English Language Arts Curriculum, authentic assessment, brain research, portfolio learning/assessment, differentiated instruction, reading strategies, the writing process including strategies to cope with the 'paper load', strategies for interactive learning, Literature Circles, multiple intelligences, learning styles and integrated instruction. These collaborations and support meetings range from one session discussions to project support for up to three years.

 

  • Inner City Art and Language Arts Training

Collaborating with the Art Consultant, four days of workshops are held with Early and Middle Years teachers from the Inner City district to demonstrate the integrative nature of the Art and Language Arts curricula.

 

  • Senior 2 Transition English Language Arts

The S2 Transition English Language Arts course, designed to meet the needs of struggling learners is currently being developed by a working committee of teachers as part of the Winnipeg School Division High School Transition Certificate.  Call Gwen Watson at 788-0203 ext. 114 for more information.
