Introduction
The English Language Arts curriculum from Kindergarten to Senior 4 has
undergone many changes since 1996 and the publication of the Manitoba Framework of
Outcomes and Standards from K to S4. The Manitoba curriculum is derived from the Western
Canadian Protocol for Collaboration in Basic Education. Each grade level shares the same
five General Outcomes and standards are set at grades 3, 6, S1 and S4. The English Language
Arts include reading, writing, speaking, listening, viewing, and representing.
