Details
Students create a simple five card stack in HyperStudio by
following the written directions that are found in the files
north_1.pub, North_2.wps, north_3.pub and north_4.pub. These
files are available by clicking on the following links NORTH_1.PUB, NORTH_2.WPS, NORTH_3.PUB and NORTH_4.PUB.
A small group of students searched for photos of Canada's North
on the Internet and saved the photos in a folder on the
shared/read only (S:\2students ) directory on the server. They
kept a record of the URLs where the photos were found to use on
the Credits card.
Although there are times that a technique was demonstrated
visually, one of the main goals was to have the students be
able to read and follow written directions. This also
allowed students to move at their own pace in terms of the tasks
that were done over a 4 week period.
Students had previously made a simple stack so they knew how to
Make a Button and have it go to the appropriate card. If
your students do not already know how to do this, a lesson would
have to be taught previous to beginning on how to make buttons
move from one card to the next. I usually have the students
always choose the Move to Another Card in the Actions dialog box
because they can visually see the card they are linking to.
Once students completed the compulsory portion of the 5 card
stack, they were asked to add new cards to the stack on
which they could be creative in terms of adding more
information in various forms and using some of the other
HyperStudio functions.
