Find a map of Australia (an outline map is probably best)
and duplicate it onto transparencies for each student in the class. Have each student open
up Paintbrush and stick the transparency onto the screen (it will stick there by static
electricity) and trace it using the drawing tool. Once the map is traced they can use an
atlas or a large wall map to add state and territory boundaries, cities etc. Save your
file for future use.
Extensions:(Literature
Links, Further Explorations, etc.)
This can be done for any other country, province, or continents. If tracing the map is
too difficult for your children the teacher may trace the map ahead of time with students
simply labelling the cities, rivers, landforms etc. that are shown or they may have to
draw them in. (An outline map of any given country, province or continent could be scanned
in as well.) The names may be available by cut, click and drag or they may have to type
them in themselves.
