Preparation:
This is an excellent culminating activity for a research unit. The categories,
words, and phrases are determined by the classroom teacher. The computer teacher then designs a framework into which these words/phrases can be sorted and classified. It was found that the Newsletter format of Student Writing Centre offered an ideal vehicle. After preparation save the file to the "To Student Drive" on the server.

Activity:
Students are instructed in the use of the mouse for highlighting portions of text etc. The cutting and pasting tools are also introduced. Students are encouraged to freely explore and use these tools. After an initial familiarization period the students are presented with the activity. See, for example, Figure 1.

Extensions:
(Literature Links, Further Explorations, etc.)
Instead of using a sort and classify activity a post test could be constructed where in students connect questions and answers through the cutting, moving and pasting tools.
