Science - Seed Sequence Animation

Details:

This lesson was used with a grade 2 class who planted bean seeds in baggies and observed their growth.
The animation activity can also be used in middle years classes with other themes, ie: cardiovascular system.

Part I (1 lesson)
Seed Sequence
Using Paint open the file bean.bmp and place each image in the correct sequence.  To download this file, click on this link BEAN.bmp.  (This file is not available at this time.)
Students can print their finished work as a guide when drawing their animation sequence.

Part II (2-3 Lessons)
1. Using the KidWorks 2 Story Illustrator draw a template from which all other images in the animation will be created. This will include the sky, soil and other details as desired.
2.Once the template has been created save the file.
3. For each stage of growth, students draw the appropriate picture onto the template. Save each picture. REMEMBER!! DO NOT CHOOSE "SAVE OVER YOUR OLD PICTURE". Select thumbs down.
4. All save pictures can be viewed by clicking on the picture box.
Creating the Animation
1. In KidsWorks 2 go to the Story Writer.
2. Click on the picture box, select the first bean picture and click on thumbs up.
3. Repeat step 2 until all drawings are in the correct sequence.
4.Save and title the story.
Playing the Animation
1. In KidsWorks2 go to Story Player.
2. Select file, open story and select your story name.
3. Click on the play button.
