Description
Use a grid screen to show the same per cent in several different ways. Write the
percent as a decimal and a fraction. Although this activity correlates to the Grade 7
Curriculum, it may be altered to accomodate lower grades.

This activity is contained on one Paint file,
"PERCENT1". For use on a network, this file should be installed in a
shared, read only directory on the server (WSD#1 uses S:\2Student). If you wish to
download this file, click on this link Percent1.bmp.
Percent2.bmp is a sample of the finished product.
After launching Paint and opening the file, students will use the tools in Paint to show
25% in 4 different ways.
*Note: The teacher may change 25% to the number of their choice.
Click on the paint can from the tool bar in Paint.
Click on a color from the color box on the bottom of the screen.
Click inside the boxes of the grid to shade 25% of the grid.
When the four grids are complete students are to scroll down to the bottom of the screen
where they will write 25 percent as a decimal and a fraction.
Use the text tool ("A") from the tool bar.
Make a text box: Hold down the left mouse button and drag the mouse to make the box.
Click inside the text box.

From the Menu, choose View and then text toolbar. Choose a style and font size.
