The stickers or stamps in KidWorks 2 can be used
with K-2 classes to introduce, learn, reinforce or review the concept of patterning. Teach
students how to use the ruler tool to draw a straight line across the centre of the screen
on which to place th epattern. Review how to select different crayon colours. Demonstrate
the three sticker sizes - small (click on the stamp to be used and then return to the work
space and apply by clicking), medium (hold down the Control key while selecting the
stamp), and large (hold down the Shift key while selecting the stamp). Demonstrate various
patterns with the difficulty level depending on the grade.
Extensions: (Literature Links, Further Explorations, etc.)
Another format is to show the students how to make a box with the square tool and place
the sticker pattern around the inside and/or outside as a border.
