This activity is contained in one Microsoft Works 3.0 file, LE_REPAS.WPS. For use on a network, this file should installed in a shared, read only directory on the server (Winnipeg School Division uses S:\2Student). If you wish to download this file, click on this link LE_REPAS.WPS.
After launching Microsoft Works and opening the file,
students are ready to work. Be sure to have students save the file with a unique
name in another drive.
To save the first time:
Click on File
Click on Save As
Type in a file name
Choose a drive (If you choose a:\ be sure there is a disk in the drive)
OK
There are three components to this activity:
1. labelling the place setting
2. drawing and labelling food/drink items
3. completing the word processing
Depending upon the operating system, the procedure for working on the embedded object
(picture) differs slightly. The Windows for Workgroups 3.11 procedure is as follows:
Double click on the picture of the place setting.
After a moment, a Paint screen will appear. Maximize it.
Use whatever tools necessary to draw/colour food items.
Label all items (students may have lists, bulletin board, etc.)
Click on File
Click on Exit & Return to (file name)
Click on Yes (This will bring bring the picture back)
Complete the word processing
Save
Print
The difference in the Windows'95 setting is that double clicking on the place setting
allows students to begin working on the picture immediately. Clicking outside the
drawing area returns the student to the word processing area.
