Description:
Show students numerous portraits of people. Encourage discussion
emphasizing the five "Ws". When was it painted?
Why? Where? When? Who? Also discuss the various planes of a human
face: frontal view, side view, top view, back view, i.e. cubism.
Have numerous portraits created by Picasso available. Discuss his
earlier works and his later works

Details:
Demonstrate to the students, as a whole group, how to open the
desired paint application. Write out the script outlining these
steps on chart paper to allow students to refer to. For example:
1. Click Start
2. Point to Programs
3. Point to Accessories
4. Click Paint
Demonstrate the various menus/tools required to complete a portrait. For example, various thicknesses of the paintbrush, the various shape tools, the eraser, the magnifying glass, options of color spills and defining custom colors. Ask students to think about the above techniques as they create an image of themselves.
