Gladstone School Resource Program 1996 - 1997
Gladstone School has two half-time resource teachers. One teacher works afternoons and the other alternative full days. Resource teachers are assigned to specific classrooms. In addition, the school has a Special Education Teacher working with students identified as requiring special education supports.
The resource program is based on a consultation, collaboration, direct service model.
The role of the resource teacher is to:
How Is A Student Referred For Resource Assistance?
1) On going consultation between the resource teacher and classroom
teacher.
2) A student may be referred at any time throughout the school year.
3) The amount of time and duration of support varies with the student.
What Other Support Staff May Become Involved in
Programming For The Student?
Students may work with teaching assistants (T.A.) on programs
designed by the resource teacher.
Gladstone School has access to the other supports through the Child Guidance
Clinic of Greater Winnipeg. These supports include social worker, speech
and language clinician, reading clinician, psychologist, psychiatrist,
and audiologist. For these services, parental permission must be granted
and a referral form completed.
What Other Divisional Programs Are Available?
The Division has other programs or placements that may suit
individual student needs. Through consultation with various personnel and
appropriate referral forms completed, students may be referred to programs
such as The Diagnostic Learning Centre (D.L.C.), Strategies Techniques
Attitudes Responsibility, Success (S.T.A.R.S.) and/or Special
Education.
