Parent Council News

All parents are welcome to attend the next Parent Council Meeting.

Parent Council would like to bring to light the wonderful progress we are making for our school.

As some may remember, we had to find a new principal. It is with great pleasure that we welcome Mrs. McLean. The experience Mrs. McLean brings to us is really quite extensive as she has devoted the last 20 years plus in the education field. Interestingly enough, Mrs. McLean was once a teacher at General Wolfe. Hooray! Talk about going full circle.

Recently, we had the school division send applicants for our Aboriginal Involvement Program. General Wolfe is pleased and proud to have Brenda Bear as our Aboriginal Cultural Support Person until the end of June. (We are also hoping her stay will be more permanent). This is also another win-win situation for us as Ms. Bear is a facilitator and implementer extraordinaire. Ms. Bear has devoted her life to aboriginal endeavours of many areas. There is a permanent office for her at the school. We hope our drumming and ceremony room and Native languages study are not far behind. Please come into the school to meet Ms. Bear and witness the progress in motion.

General Wolfe will be writing proposals to help us have an electronic sign outside the school. It will have new messages for our school community changed frequently. A new website for General Wolfe is also being created. Previous graduates, along with Mr. Maniar, are currently working on the new website. We will post the web address when it becomes available.

We are looking to have a Parent and Child day in May. It is still in the planning stages, so please keep your calendars flexible.

Students having trouble in math? Our teaching staff are currently learning some new math strategies that they will be using to assist our students think “outside the box” and find alternate ways to find solutions. With these new ideas in place, I am confident our math department at General Wolfe will have all of our children on a great course soon!

Our next Parent Council meeting is Wednesday, March 19 at 5:30 p.m. Please join us and give us any input involving our children. Ideas and suggestions are always welcome!
