is the building like? The
facility at Daniel McIntyre offers a school like no other. Our Heritage
building offers a warm and comfortable setting. We also have an indoor
sports facility including a weight room and underground track.
What
sort of technology facilities are offered? Daniel
McIntyre offers lots in the way of technology. An Electronics Lab,
Metal Shop, Wood Shop and Auto Shop are part of the industrials arts
labs. There is also a Graphics Lab with Digital Video editing facilities.
Sewing and Foods labs are on the second floor. Our Business Ed. Department
has 3 computer labs featuring Windows XP and a Mac lab.
What
are the Arts programs at DMCI?
The Performing Arts Program at DMCI has seen unprecedented growth in recent years and is possibly one of the most comprehensive Performing Arts programs at a non-specialized high school in Canada. DMCI offers instruction in guitar, piano, concert choir, vocal jazz ensemble, concert band, drama, dance, visual arts and musical theatre. Additionally, our Performing Arts students have the option of obtaining a Performing Arts Certificate along with their high school diploma by taking an integrated program of study designed to prepare them for a post-secondary performance career and study opportunities.
Our performing ensembles are recognized provincially and nationally for their excellence. All regularly receive top awards at local and national festivals. The musical theatre component has been recently revived to rave reviews and sell out audiences.
