Objectives of
Collège Churchill

Our French Immersion school:
- Offers a program parallel
to that offered by English program schools and develops
the same skills and competencies as those programs.
- Develops functional
bilingualism for students whose first language is English
by:
- providing listening,
speaking, reading and writing in French and English
- developing an
understanding of the Franco-Canadian culture while
respecting the students own cultural heritages.
Collège
Churchill is on a mission to develop bilingual students,
aware of the multi-cultural Canadian reality and conscious of the
challenges of an ever-changing, global village. We wish to foster
an environment of excellence, involvement and cooperation where
each individual gains the confidence necessary to develop his/her
own potential while acquiring a high degree of bilingual
competence.
Therefore, we believe
that students:
- should develop the
required abilities to function properly in Canadas
two official languages;
- should be conscious of
world issues;
- should strive for
excellence both in and out of the school environment;
- along with staff, should
fully engage themselves in school projects and
objectives;
- should feel comfortable
and secure within the school;
- should develop their
abilities,
. . . and that the
school:
- must offer activities that
contribute to proper physical development;
- must organize activities
which will encourage social and linguistic development;
- must offer programs which
will encourage and foster academic and aesthetic
development;
- must offer quality teaching that
encourages intellectual growth;
- must provide models, establish rules and
create an atmosphere which supports moral development.
