Acceptable Use Policy

During all use of technology at Collège Churchill, whether it be use of hardware or use of software, the student is expected:

 

  1. Any actions that might harm the computer equipment or software, or impair their effective use, or that show disregard for the proper procedures set up by the school for network access will NOT be tolerated: Non compliance will result in student’s loss of all computer access privileges.
  2. Students must never allow others to use their specific account names and / or their passwords. Violation of this rule will result in the student’s immediate loss of specific e-mail account if and where applicable.
  3. Individual users of the school’s computer networks are responsible for their behavior and communications over those networks. We expect users to comply with school standards and to honour the agreements they have signed.
  4. Network storage areas may be treated like school lockers. Network administrators may review files and communications to maintain system integrity and ensure that users are utilizing the system responsibly. Users should not expect that files stored on school servers or school computers will always be private.
  5. Parents must understand that their children may encounter material in a network site or bulletin board that they may consider inappropriate (pornography, vulgar jokes, statements of belief that some may consider immoral, etc.). The students are responsible for not pursuing material that could be considered offensive.

Because there are multiple computers in the classrooms for student use. I , the parent / guardian of this student, understand that the teaching staff of Collège Churchill can NOT monitor all the information my child may access or down load while in the classroom or at home. Both, my child and I understand that the accessing of, or saving of inappropriate material, such as listed above, will not be tolerated. Accessing such material will result in loss of privileges for using the computer networks, and the internet at Collège Churchill, and may result in academic penalties.

Parents should feel free to call the teaching staff at 474-1305 to address any concerns they may have about their child`s access to the internet.
