Late French Immersion Program

In past years, Collège Churchill offered a late immersion program for successful students seeking a challenge. The program was very successful and is now being offered if there is enough interest. The school has the advantage of having the professionals and the necessary space to reinstate the program. The Late Immersion Program provides students with an educational equivalent to that available in the English language program, while providing opportunities to acquire a high level of proficiency in French. Students enter the program in grade 7, and upon graduation in Senior 4, graduate with a French Immersion Diploma, allowing the student to attend any French or English post-secondary institution and/or accept employment with French as the language of work.

Some points to consider when enrolling in the Late Immersion Program:

  1. Late Immersion provides a point of entry for students who did not elect the Early Immersion option, but who wish to acquire a second language. They are usually motivated students seeking a challenge.
  2. We strongly advise that the students be actively involved in the decision to enrol in Late Immersion.
  3. Late Immersion is a 6-year program whose aim is to develop a “Functional” level of bilingualism upon graduation. They can expect to be integrated into the regular Immersion Program in Senior 1.
